Anthony Barbieri-Low (Ph.D. Princeton University) is Professor of History at the University of California, Santa Barbara, specializing on social, economic, legal, and material culture history of early China, with an additional research area in Egyptology. He is the author of Recarving China’s Past: Art, Architecture, and Archaeology of the “Wu Family Shrines” (with Cary Y. Liu and Michael Nylan; Yale University Press, 2005), Artisans in Early Imperial China (University of Washington Press, 2007), and Law, State, and Society in Early Imperial China: Study and Translation of the Legal Texts from Zhangjiashan Tomb no. 247 (with Robin D.S. Yates; Brill, 2015).
